Je ne sais quois.

photos and styling by me, modeling by Paulina Deutzman.

( hat - Zara, tank - Target, heart shaped sunglasses - Halloween store, jeans - Aeropostale, necklace - C&A, black bra - Victoria's Secret )

There's always something special about film photos that digital pictures will never have.

Nowhere, yeah we're going nowhere fast.

(photos by Gaby Rocha)

( shorts & t-shirt - DIY, hat - Zara, black bangle - Bershka, rainbow bangle - Hot Topic, zebra bangle - gift from a friend, flip flops - Target, rings - Charlotte Russe, necklace - H&M )

That t-shirt got compliments like crazy yesterday when I wore it to school, and everybody got surprised when I told them I made it as a class project. One of my friends liked it so much she even asked me to make one for her. All that positive attention towards my work made me happy. That and the beautiful photos Gaby and I took on her rooftop laughing all along added up for a great day. I loved how the sky started to show all those pinks, oranges and blues. That's my favorite kind of sunset and I'm glad we were able to capture it in a picture.

Oh! Tonight I'm going to a Coldplay show and I'm super ecstatic. I won the tickets in a smoothies store's raffle, and since I never win anything I wanted to drop dead from happiness when I received the e-mail. Wish me to have lots of fun!

Such a long long time.

It's been ages since the last time I posted anything in here! Or at least it feels like that to me. I changed the layout of this thingy because I wanted to be able to post bigger pictures and I like the sidebar to the left. On the right it looked kind of weird and awkward to me, dunno why. Now I have to make a new banner and do some adjustments, but those will come later, right now I feel cold and sleepy so I'll just share a quick summary of what's been going on.

I went to have dinner with Poli some weeks ago. We went to these sushi bar we love so much in which you pay $13.oo and you can order whatever you want from the menu. Of course the portions they give you are smaller than the regular ones but there's no limit on how many dishes you can order. It's kind of an "all you can eat" thing. The catch is you can't take the leftovers home with you, so that makes me feel the need to clean every plate. The result was Poli and me leaving the restaurant by rolling instead of walking. Also, before dinner we went to buy some cigarettes. We've seen this new Camel no. 9 adds on magazines and felt really curious about them. That and me being me I'll buy almost anything just because it's pink or has pink on it. Besides being pretty they turned out to be good, or at least we liked them. The mint ones taste like minty chocolate.

That's Poli lovingly giving me the finger. Sometimes she's camera shy and that's what you get if you try to get a picture of her during those times. I adore her peace and love sign tattoo, and the place where she chose to put it makes me laugh.

Oh! That makes me so excited. At school I'm taking these subject on black and white photography, but it's not digital photography, it's film photography. So we get to use reflex cameras, develop our own films and print the pictures. Last class we made some light try outs and that's mine. Tomorrow we're really printing. My film negatives turned out kind of weak so when I print my pictures they're not going to have a really high image quality, but I like it that way. It makes the pictures to look old, sort of vintage, and I LOVE vintage so I'm happy anyways.

Also, since we've been having sunny days (they've been cold, but at least I'm getting some sunshine) I've been taking some more pictures of my dog. I know that may not sound exciting, but I love photographing her, because whenever I take out a camera she'll stay really still, like posing, and I found that hilarious every time. Any way, my point is that I'm gonna put together the ones I like the most and make a gallery with them. By the way, I found a program that allows me to make image galleries, put titles and some captions on the pictures, and upload them to the web; which is exactly what I've been looking for, so now I'll be able to make really neat and clean looking galleries.

Art on my walls.

"Hippie Love"
Technique: gouache.
That's a reproduction of an image I found at www.deviantart.com , I would have put the link to the original, but I can't find it. Mine it's no exactly the same, the colors I mean, because of the technique I used.

"Colors"
Technique: acrylics.

People ask me what the f*ck is that, but it's really nothing. I just wanted to make something colorful and I was really obsessed with vectorial art back then.

"Baby Face"
Technique: pencils.

That was supposed to be a reproduction of another image I found at DA, but when I made it it turned out like that. The girl was much much older looking but in my interpretation she looks really young, almost a baby. My mom loved that one.

"Lakshmi, is that you?"
Technique: color pencils.

This is the one I'm the proudest of. It's an original of myself and I don't find it THAT student-project looking, like the rest of my originals. The teacher told the class that for this project we would have to do something that had a philosophical theme, so I went for Hinduism. That's supposed to be Lakshmi, the goddess of beauty and good luck, but I reinterpreted her. I adjusted her image so she would be more sensual looking, and draw her according to what's considered an attractive woman in western culture. Big boobs, thin waist, long legs, big lips and eyes, etc. But kept her dark coloring because I still wanted her to look Hindu.

Those are some of my favorite school works that I keep hanging on my wall. I know I'm not that good at drawing, but I still enjoy making illustrations. As a matter of fact, I seriously considered a career as a fashion illustrator or a book illustrator, but realized I was a better photographer and loved photography even more.

Class dismissed.

Front
(I didn't noticed until someone pointed it out, that by the way I arranged the pictures it looks as if R-Patz was wearing leopard print tights hahaha.)

Back

I have a very strong drive to set myself apart from the rest. A spot in a world full of lines if you wish, and that's why I did that to my school notebook. At the beginning of every quarter my college gives free notebooks to the students, and of course all of them look the same. I used to give those away and buy one, but this time the one they gave us were made with recycled paper, and since I'm a little of an ecologist, I thought that was rather cool and decided to use it this time. But I had to make it my own, you know, little miss individual, and made a pretty cover and back cover for it. I also added the lashes to keep it organized, you know, little miss tidy. At the end I just LOVED the final product, it's fun and unique.

By the way, today I missed all of my classes because I ran late to every single one of them. Don't ask me how that happened, it's a mystery to even myself. I don't mind that much, I just got a little upset about missing my first class because I had made my homework and didn't have the chance to turn it in.
